Building Plans for Phase 1 Construction

FAQ's

Phase 1 Construction Drawing

Floor Plan 1

Floor Plan 2

How does the new building size compare to our current facility?

Our current facility, including the gym, is 44,535 sq. ft. and the new facility will be 48,000 and better designed for maximum use efficiency.

What is the status on city services to our property?

Currently there are no water or sewer services to our property. We have planned to provide an on-site service facility to manage our needs. There is no firm timeline from the city to annex our property.

Is the temporary worship space expandable?

While our master plan worship facility is an expandable design, the temporary worship building is not.

How much of the 63 acres will be used in the development, and will we keep our agriculture tax status with the Harris County Appraisal District?

We will use about 15 acres of our existing property for this first phase development. It is our goal to receive an extension of our current agriculture tax status with the county.

How far does our property go back?

Our property extends approximately ½  the distance from N. Main to Garth Road.

Will the new building transition us totally?

Our new building will provide space for all of our weekly worship, Bible group, senior adult, youth and children’s activities. As has been discussed, our goal is to negotiate a solution for our Upward Ministry.

How will they increase the parking lot?

Our goal is to have 300 parking spaces on the new property and we are working with Barons for a favorable solution. As soon as those are available we will forward them on to the church.

Concerns about restrooms, prayer room and “cry rooms”

The number of restrooms in the temporary worship facility will be reinforced with the provisions in the education wing. Given the temporary nature of this building and the desire for adequate foyer space, the size of the restroom had to be limited. Our hope is that the facilities in the other building would help offset any shortfall in the worship space. The prayer room and infant cry rooms have been discussed as parts of our future phasing, but were not included in this initial phase. In the nursery area, we will have a video feed of the service which can be viewed by any parents needing to attend to their child, along with a private nursing room.

Where is the Baptistry?

Our baptisms will be serviced by a tank arrangement in the temporary facility

Why chairs and not pews?

To allow for maximum optimal use of the space both now and in the future chairs are our best solution. These chairs have cushioned backs and seats and be approximately 24” wide.

What type of seats will be in the temporary worship facility?

Our plan is to purchase 24-inch wide padded individual seats so that all of our guests and members can be comfortably accommodated.  The size of our current seats in adult classrooms is 18 inches.

Where is our food pantry and will the door be ample size?

There will be a small food pantry, similar to our current arrangement, which will allow us to continue this ministry. The pantry will be located within the office area and will be accessible through the secured area of the building which will have standard doors.

Is there a library, bookstore etc…?

In the first phase of the building there are no accommodations for either of these.

Is there a back entrance to allow seniors to enter?

In the first phase there is no public access to the rear of the building.

Will there be a drive along the back of the building?

There is a fire lane to the back of the building, however this is not intended for drop off and pick up.

Is there separate storage for lawn and garden materials?

There will need to be some type of storage facility created for these purposes.

Is there anyone interested in buying our present facility? What is it worth?

Our Building Steering Committee has been in contact with a local church that has some interest in the property.  We have had an initial meeting with them.  We plan to meet with them again in the next couple of weeks for further discussions.  Although we haven’t had a full-blown appraisal done, we recently received a “letter of value” of 1.2 million from a local real estate appraiser.

Will any of the current facilities' existing furniture or equipment be used in the new buildings?
Yes. We will be using as much of the current furniture and fixtures as possible.

What is the plan for the old building once the transition is made to the new building?

We have had a local real estate appraiser look at this facility, and he’s given us a “letter of value” of the property (not an actual appraisal). The Building Steering Committee has had some discussions with a local church that has some interest in purchasing the property as their church home. If they (the other church) actually show genuine interest and wish to buy this property, their offer would all be brought before our church for discussion and a vote.

How many future phases are we looking at and what are the estimated costs associated with each of these phases?

There could be one, two or three more phases.  I believe that if we were to try to build all of those phases now, it would be somewhere between 18-22 million.

Is there a kichen area in the new facility?

No. There is a small servery area. A kitchen and full-blown fellowship hall are planned for future phases.

What will the Gathering Area Rooms (at the far right of the drawing near the classrooms) be used for?

They will be used for Kids’ Church, Wee-People Church and AWANA’s activities. They are totally dedicated to children’s ministry.

How do the existing facilities compare with the new facilities as far as number of classrooms, sanctuary seating, etc.?

We are adding about 3,500 square feet (give or take a few) of square footage by moving, but we are seeking the right solution for a gym. Our current sanctuary can comfortably seat 400 to 425 people. The temporary worship facility in phase one of the new building will hold 600 worshippers.
