Have you checked your ‘facebook’ page today? Do you know the latest things going on in your friend’s lives? How about your Twitter account?, that is if you are young enough to be able to have these and keep up with them...Oh, and your text messages. Did you get the latest prompting from your family, friend, or loved ones? I know when that little sound goes off on my phone I know there is a message.....

 As Jana, Jordan and I settled in for our “Fathers Day” lunch, we started talking about how we are connected in so many ways. Jordan began to bring to light how often we check into our facebook accounts...check our twitter, or text messages, even our email....and the discussion was on...

 As we talked I became more and more convicted that I may be more “in tune” with everyone else that I am with God. Now, I am not a big facebook user, (as I know others of you are)but I do have a page and find myself spending blocks of time checking in on what others have posted. It's a great social network and I love seeing everyone’s photos of family and current events and it is a great medium of communication. I asked myself, how often do I check in with God’s page and see what He has going on in Kingdom work. How often do I invest time talking with other believers about what God is doing in their particular lives and share and multiply the joy or help divide the sorrow. Am I aware enough to help out, pray for, or encourage a friend in the faith...

 While I am rarely on twitter, I am about to improve in this area. This is just another way to keep up with everyone...I have an account...step one complete..

 However, I do text...a lot. When my phone “dings” I know someone has sent me a message.... I usually think it is important, and I am quick to stop whatever it is I’m doing to see what the message is and who is sending it. Then I respond. I am sad to say I do not always have the same sensitivity to God’s prompting, (His ding), ...sometimes I don’t even hear it....

 God wants me, and all of us, to be more in tune with His still small voice. It will take  some work, but I am committing myself to that task. Always listening for his little “ding” in my life that will lead, guide and direct me. His instant messages are of eternal consequences. Always prompting us to do the right thing, say the right thing, be silent, or just be still...and listen. It may even be an invitation to spend some time talking with Him....a little face time!!

 So, as you check your facebook or twitter accounts today or even hear your phone alert you that you have an instant message, remind yourself that this is how our loving God desires that our lives connect with Him. Faithfully checking in to see what is going on in His world, always listening for his signal that He has a message for you.... It will take some effort, but the rewards are “heavenly”. I believe that is what He wants and desires and has established in the verse, pray without ceasing...It really is an All Access pass to an abundant life....
