I want to invite you to join me on a journey Iʼm about to take. Well, actually, itʼs a journey designed for the whole church family. Youʼve probably heard us talking about it but itʼs the spiritual campaign we are starting on January 29th. Itʼs called “40 Days in the Word”.

40 is a significant number in the bible... it rained for 40 days and 40 nights while Noah was in the ark, plus he waited another 40 days in the ark. Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days on two separate occasions. The spies took 40 days to search out the Promised Land. The Israelites wondered in the wilderness for 40 years. Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness and so on.

So, we are about to begin a journey and spend “40 Days in the Word”. During those 40 days we are going to Love the Word, Learn the Word and Live the Word. We will be learning things like easy bible study methods, ways to memorize scripture and so on.
Of course, the goal is that everyone would get into a small group for this journey. Small groups will be meeting weekly for six weeks and doing a brief study together. And everyone will be getting their own workbook for daily exercises in the Word. And each weekend Mark and I will be sharing messages that will move us along in the journey.

So, hereʼs the bottom line.... would you please get in a group. Itʼs still not too late to join a group. You can go online at secondbaytown.org and look at all the different groups that are available or this weekend you can sign- up through the connection card.

I really believe this will be one of those journeys that you will look back on in your life and see some of the greatest spiritual growth in your life. So what do you say? Will you join me on the journey? Letʼs get together a Love the Word, Learn the Word and LIve the Word.

All I can say is AMEN my Brother! I want to let you know that I heard the words of our Lord come through you this Sunday! I was leaning on every word and anxious for the next to be proclaimed. You and our staff are a blessing to me and I pray that you all continue to preach the word as the Lord leads. The words spoken Sunday were bold and needed to be heard. The tribute to Dr. King was wonderful and the message was right on!
As Winston Churchill said, "You make a living by what you get, you make a life by what you give".

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
