He Knows My Name!
I am pleased to announce the arrival of a new family member to the Clements household. At least I think I pleased? No, we are not having another baby... but we added a new black lab puppy.
I know what you are thinking right now... “Tommy, what were you thinking?” and my response would have to be... “I wasn’t!” No, really, we are animal lovers at the Clements house. And there is nothing cuter than a little puppy, until they start crying in the middle of the night.
So, why am I telling you about the new puppy? Well, it has created a bit of a problem... what should we name her? Kirstin heard the name Maci and that’s what she wanted. Jeremy and Jordan wanted to call her, notice the gender, Melchizedek. Jonathan had another name, as did Susan. I didn’t have a specific name picked out but I did know that it wasn’t going to be Melchizedek! And no... we don’t need any suggestions! So, for several days it has bee called.... puppy.
So, why am I telling you all this? Glad you asked. I really love the song that we sing from time to time called “He Knows My Name”. Let me remind you of the lyrics...
“I have a maker, He formed my heart
Before even time began, My life was in His hand
He know my name, He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls, And He hears me when I call”
When I sing that song I am reminded of Psalm 139...
Psalms 139:1-6 (NCV)
1 Lord, you have examined me and know all about me.
2 You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know my thoughts before I think them.
3 You know where I go and where I lie down. You know thoroughly everything I do.
4 Lord, even before I say a word, you already know it.
5 You are all around me—in front and in back— and have put your hand on me.
6 Your knowledge is amazing to me; it is more than I can understand.
I was just thinking... we don’t have to worry about being someone that is unnamed or unknown. When God calls to us He doesn’t say... “Hey you!”.
Because God knows us!
I shared a portion of this passage on Sunday. God is all around us - in front and in back - and He has put His hand on us. Isn’t that an awesome thought?
So, why don’t you lay back in the arms of the one that created you! Find comfort, peace, and protection. He knows you, He knows your name and He loves you!
I pray that you have an awesome week in the Lord!
Tommy
