Second Baptist Baytown

The past couple of weeks have been very busy and hugely rewarding around Second. On January 22nd and 23^rd we were inspired to improve our relationships with our spouses, our children and our friends with some biblical and practical advice from our guest Dr. Kevin Leman. I was especially drawn to how Dr. Leman is able to impart his Christian faith through stories that are humorous, informative and educational. 

This week, we have embarked on an incredible journey of 40 Days in the Word through small groups. We have increased our group number substantially to accommodate everyone, and many of our membership are initiating participation for the very first time. It is awesome to see how God is moving in and through our fellowship. It is inspiring to see folks getting connected in a group, growing in their faith, and opening God's word, some for the very first time.

As a business man I learned that the best advertising concerning your product or service was the testimony of a satisfied customer...so, I am leaving you with a couple of samplings of what people are saying about their new found knowledge as a result of their connection with the body of Christ here at Second.  “I just wanted to send a quick email to say “THANK YOU” for such a wonderfully inspiring weekend!!!! I feel renewed as a wife, mother, daughter, and friend! Dr. Leman spoke so man truths that we, as parents, fail to implement out of fear of rejection, failure, or guilt! “An unhappy child is healthy child” keeps scrolling through my mind’s marquee! This morning Brock spent 3 minutes on the back porch and Rylee had to re-hang the clothes that she refused to wear and dress herself without my assistance…by the time we made it to school, both hugged me and apologized (on their own) for their behavior! After they got out of the car, I cried….how EASY was that!?!?!?! I never raised my voice or my blood pressure and everyone got to school on time, dressed, and happy! We are back on track!

Thank you again for making this possible for the city of Baytown… It’s great to know that so many visitors got to experience what we have at Second.”
