525,600 Minutes

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” James 4:14
We started a new sermon series last weekend based on the idea that we only have so many minutes (525,600 to be exact) in a given year, and we are to make the most of the time that God has given us.
The Bible tells us in James that our lives are like a “mist” or a “vapor.” Translation...we are “short timers” on planet earth and we need to make every moment count for our Creator. We have been placed on this planet to do two things... Love God...and Love People.
During this Christmas season and into the new year, we are going to be challenging our entire church to make the most of the minutes that you’ve been given be doing a few key things:
Become “Radically Generous” (Do something for someone who can not pay you back in any way.)
Become a “Radical Giver” (Recalibrate your heart to remind yourself that everything you have belongs to God...it is not yours...it’s His...to be used for His Kingdom...and His Glory.)
Become “Radically Relational” (Step out of your comfort zone to develop a new relationship. Maybe it’s time to invite someone over to dinner or for coffee that is not in your “regular” friend set?)
Become “Radically Contagious with the Gospel” (Understand why the manger matters and why this season of Christmas changed the world forever. Celebrate fully the birth of Jesus Christ this season!)
I am excited about this sermon series, but, my few minutes of your attention are now over. What will you do with the remaining minutes you have in this day?
